The Dusi Canoe Marathon is done and dusted for this year, but its positive effects continue to benefit communities in and around the valley which the race runs through.

For three days our street artists worked their magic on a 3 metre canvas, capturing the essence of the Dusi.

The mural was auctioned, and the Natal Canoe Club was the highest bidder. All proceeds will be handed over to the Chief’s Valley Trust, which helps the community.

Edgar Rathbone, Managing Director of EPS Management, says Jonsson was one of the first South African companies to back the side when they returned to Super Rugby in 2014.

“Jonsson Workwear has been a proud partner of the Lions since our re-emittance in 2014 and we are so proud to extend this relationship for another two years. They are a South African company who produces quality products that we as the Lions are proud to be associated with. Jonsson Workwear’s investment in South African rugby has been a longstanding and expanding venture.”

Jonsson will again take centre stage on the back of the new Emirates Lions jersey. The new Vodacom Super Rugby jersey for 2018 was revealed to all the Lions sponsors at their annual golf day at Sun City on 7 December.

Jonsson Workwear will also continue as the official workwear provider to the Golden Lions Rugby Union staff.

Nick Jonsson, CEO of Jonsson Workwear is thrilled to continue this association.

“Jonsson Workwear and Lions Rugby share similar values; hard-work, commitment and tenacity.  We have sponsored the Lions since 2014, and look forward to another rewarding two years.”

Jonsson Workwear Supports The Paper Money Project

By admin on October 04, 2017 in Sponsorships

When you’re at an intersection in Durban you might get the urge to roll up your windows, avoiding the people who ask for money at the robots, but hold on. You might want to carefully look at the guys dressed in high visibility clothing selling newspapers.

Jonsson Workwear has supplied high visibility workwear to some of the people who usually beg at intersections, who have now become Paper Money entrepreneurs, selling newspapers to motorists.

The Paper Money project started when the Denis Hurley Centre collaborated with Urban Lime to try and get those currently begging, away from asking people for money, and instead have a chance to empower themselves by making their own money.

The vendors sell the newspapers to motorists for the price of R10, as it is the smallest note available, hence the term ‘paper money.’  They then get to keep half of the money they make.

The project manager Stuart Talbot from the Denis Hurley Centre says the aim of this project is “to turn most beggars operating at robots in Durban into entrepreneurial newspaper vendors.”

A Proud Sponsor of The Jonsson College Rovers

By JW on March 12, 2015 in Sponsorships

We are extremely proud to once again, be both the workwear and title sponsor of the Jonsson College Rovers club rugby side. 2015 marks the sixth year of this exciting sponsorship and our relationship with this historic club continues to strengthen.

The beginning of the year has brought much excitement to the club with the new addition of the legacy deck; a viewing deck erected alongside the field. The plan is to eventually expand the deck around the field to create a truly unbelievable club rugby environment.

This weekend’s game on the 14th of March will be one of the biggest games of the season. The Jonsson College Rovers will play for a place in the Cell C Community Cup semi-final against the Crusaders from Bloemfontein. There will also be a legends game, with some of South Africa’s old heroes in action.

Be sure to head down to the festive rugby club on Saturday for an exciting afternoon of rugby.

Jonsson Workwear Sponsors the 2015 Dusi Canoe Marathon

By JW on March 05, 2015 in Latest News, Sponsorships

Jonsson Workwear was proud to be the official workwear sponsor of the Dusi Canoe Marathon for the second year running last week. This iconic African race is one of endurance and purpose, which aligns perfectly with our brand.

The three day long canoe marathon was once again a great success and saw Andy Birkett taking first place in the men’s category and Laura O’Donoghue as the leading lady. Our enthusiastic team created a presence by running a social media campaign giving away up to R12 000 worth of workwear to lucky paddlers photographed with their boats sporting the Jonsson Workwear logo.

We are thrilled to be able to continue this exciting partnership with the biggest canoeing event to take place on the African continent.
